2010 has arrived ...

The year started with one of the biggest natural disasters in human history - the Haiti Earthquake which has left a country in devastation - over 180 000 people have died. This event only serves to highlight the need for God's followers to be his hands and feet - to love, heal and restore the broken in our world.

Make sure that 2010 is a year of showing the world His heart!
... Stronger, Bolder, Louder!

Ellerton Primary School Renovation Project
Ellerton Primary School, located in Sea Point is in dire need of a good paint job and repairs. They have 340 students, 14 teachers and 30 children in aftercare. To help provide these children with a better education, they need a building in good condition.

On the 6th of March, a team of Ubomi volunteers will renovate the school. We will be painting walls, improving the staff room and doing other general maintenance. To make this possible, we need donations of both money and time.

If you would like more information on this project and what resources we require, please email carita@ubomi.com. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the lives of South Africa's next generation.

Mark Palmer's New Comedy Show!
Mark Palmer, Cape Town Comedian and Ubomi Ambassador, will be performing two more shows titled "FUNNY MONDAYS" at On Boadway in Cape Town on Monday 8th & Monday 15th February 2010. This is the kickoff of his new comedy series "Laughing Your Way to a Happy Marriage". Once again, he will be donating a percentage of his ticket sales to Ubomi Charitable Trust. His mission is to put on a show with a purpose beyond "laughs per minute". This means that whilst people come out to enjoy themselves and have a good laugh, they are also contributing to improving the lives of others.

If you would like to buy a ticket for his show, please contact On Broadway on 021 424 1194. For more information on the show and Mark Palmer, please visit his website www.markpalmer.co.za.

Masikhulisane Crèche Christmas Party
Niki and a small team of volunteers visited the Masikhulisane Crèche in Samora Machel, Phillipi on Friday 4 December. They were greeted by over 50 excited children who entertained the team with traditional African dancing while they were handing out party packs and gifts for the teachers. These had been put together by a Life Group at Life Church.

Lots of toys and other presents were also handed out - mostly donated by the Toy Run. It was a time of blessing for the children but also a time to be blessed by them in turn.

Niki would like to thank Tricia and her Life Group for donating the packs, Toy Run for the presents and everyone that made this Christmas Party special.

Praise Report from 2009
"In our life group, we had many young people who were homeless and jobless. We all prayed everyday for these people to find jobs and accommodation and we all trusted God for breakthrough. God did send someone to me who would be able to help these people.

They did not only get jobs but the same person supplied them with accommodation on the farm where they worked. So far more or less 30 people have been given jobs and accommodation by this person.

I strongly believe we should ask God for boldness and wisdom and offer ourselves to God for him to use us.

Then God will do the rest, like he did with these 30 people. We still have 3 or 4 people in our life group that need jobs and accommodation but we are just standing on God's word and praying that this will be another great testimony." - Jo-Ann Wilson, Life Group Leader at Life church.

"I would just like to thank Social Action for donating Dignity Bags to Over the Fence to give to the inmates at Pollsmoor Prison. We did a great end of the year party with the girls where we handed out the gifts. They enjoyed the gifts, food and songs, and people gave their hearts to God."

- Yvonne and Lauren, Over the Fence Prison Ministry
