Dear Ubomi Members,

During August, Ubomi will be focussing on rebuilding broken walls and living a life like that of Nehemiah. Nehemiah saw the broken walls and decided to act. Nehemiah's strategy was to help the people lift their eyes from their "rubble" to the Lord who is sovereign over all circumstances, and who is ever ready to change the circumstances in the blink of an eye. We have no excuse but to start rebuilding broken walls in people's lives and in our community one brick at a time - filling the gaps in society.

Are you ready to help build the wall? Ubomi is ready - Build with us today!

One-Day Clinic at El-Shammah Kibbutz
Three doctors from the US ran a health clinic for a day at the kibbutz. They convinced many from the town to buy into the vision and donate to the clinic. There were cubicles for blood pressure testing, sugar diabetes, eyesight and general health information. Shoprite cooks were also there with pots of soup and bags of rolls arrived from Spar.

We also created a "Prayer Table". From the moment we opened the doors, people were filing through and voluntarily requesting prayer. Until closing at 17h30, they flowed through the cubicles and prayer room. It was such a success that we continued the following day. With the link to the local hospital, the doctors organised specialised treatment for any patient coming from the clinic. All glory to God for creating this opportunity to minister to people in this community! Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Beedz employs one of their students
Beedz is proud to announce that they are employing a new facilitator, Nosipho Maki, as a bead and jewellery lecturer. Nosipho is a lady who completed the programme at the beginning of the year and we have been amazed by her growth and potential. She will also be running the bead and jewellery making course and helping other women who were in the same circumstances that she once found herself. This is a success story in that she came to us with no skills and is now equipped to enter the job market.

Beedz have streamlined the intake process. Previously we interviewed unemployed, single mothers from the community. However, we were not always able to reach the really desperate cases this way. We have secured a contact with the local hospital and they refer trainees to us. All of these women have HIV\ Aids and are living on the breadline. We have been invited to give a presentation to the members of the Grahamstown Municipality. We want to network more with other community programmes through them referring trainees to us and us referring women to them.
